What We’ve Accomplished Together

Tomsey Engineering & Services International Ltd facilitated the Hazard Identification (HAZID) Study for the NNPC Limited Major Hydrocarbon Pipelines and Infrastructure Renewal Project, supporting the identification and management of potential safety and operational risks associated with the proposed pipeline systems.

The project involves the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of six new pipeline systems across the Niger Delta region, aimed at improving pipeline integrity, operational reliability and the overall safety performance of critical hydrocarbon infrastructure.

“Through structured HAZID sessions and multidisciplinary technical discussions, Tomsey supported the project team in identifying potential hazards, assessing credible risk scenarios and developing recommendations to strengthen safety in design.”

Project Overview

The renewal project forms part of efforts to improve the reliability and integrity of Nigeria’s hydrocarbon transportation infrastructure. The development incorporates new pipeline systems designed to address infrastructure requirements while supporting safer and more reliable energy operations.

Tomsey’s involvement focused on integrating Safety in Design (SiD) principles into the project through systematic hazard identification and technical safety review. The assessment considered potential pipeline failure, loss of containment, operational risks and external threats that could affect the safety and reliability of the infrastructure.

The project also adopts Continuous Horizontal Directional Drilling (CHDD) as a trenchless pipeline installation approach. This construction methodology can help reduce surface disturbance and environmental impact while providing additional protection for buried pipeline infrastructure.
